This policy explains what personal data TheGlobaLocal collects, why, and your rights. It is written for visitors in the United Kingdom and the United Arab Emirates, and follows the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), the Data Protection Act 2018 and the UAE Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021 on the Protection of Personal Data (PDPL).
Who we are

What we collect
- Waitlist answers, only if you join: your email address, where you are on your move, who’s moving, your planned move month, whether you would pay for expert access, and your consent to be emailed.
- Anonymous usage statistics, only if you accept analytics: pages viewed, calculators used, guides read to the end, and your approximate country, device and browser.
- Technical logs kept by our hosting provider for security, such as IP address and request time.
The calculators and guides run in your browser. What you enter in them is not sent to us.

Who we share it with
We never sell your data. We use these service providers, who process it only on our instructions:
- Waitlist form: Formspree (United States)
- Email: [email provider name and country]
- Hosting: [hosting provider name and country]
- Analytics: Plausible Analytics (European Union), only if you accept analytics. It sets no cookies and doesn’t identify you
International transfers
Some providers may store data outside the UK and the UAE. Where they do, we rely on the safeguards the law requires, such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or Addendum and, for the UAE, transfers permitted under Articles 22 and 23 of the PDPL. [Confirm per provider.]
How long we keep it
We keep waitlist data until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it, and no longer than [12] months after the waitlist closes. Usage statistics are kept in aggregate for [24] months. Hosting logs are kept for [30] days.
Your rights
You can ask to access, correct or delete your data, to restrict or object to its use, and to receive a copy in a portable format. You can withdraw consent at any time, by unsubscribing from our emails, changing your , or emailing hello@theglobalocal.com. We reply within one month.
If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, please tell us first. You can also complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk) or, in the UAE, to the UAE Data Office.
Children
The site is not aimed at children, and we don’t knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.

We will post any changes here and update the date at the top. If a change affects how we use your waitlist data, we’ll email you first.
